Inaugurated in 1989, the Environmental Health Foundation of Canada (EHFC) is a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing environmental health in Canada and internationally through the development and implementation of education and research initiatives.
The activities of the foundation are coordinated by a board of trustees, which comprises representatives from industry, educational institutions, the community at large, government, and the environmental public health profession.
As CIPHI’s charitable division, the foundation supports the promotion of and research into the field of environmental health as it relates to the protection of public health by working towards the following objectives:
Increasing public awareness of environmental health issues, concerns, and hazards
Encouraging and supporting persons in or entering into the field of environmental health through the issuance of bursaries and scholarships.
Supporting and/or providing educational programmes in the field of environmental health
Initiating and supporting research in the field of environmental health
Supporting the development and operation of national and international projects in the field of environmental health
Raising money and receiving, acquiring, and holding gifts, donations, legacies, bequests, and endowments from all sources, including other charitable organizations, to be used solely in achieving the foundation’s objectives
