Samarjeet Singh
Branch Director/President
Ciphimnpresident@gmail.comSamar is the current Director and President of the CIPHI Manitoba Branch. He graduated from Cape Breton University in April 2023 and obtained his Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) [CPHI(C)] in October 2023. Since entering the field, Samar has been actively involved in advancing environmental public health practice and supporting professional development within the discipline. He is particularly interested in mentorship, community engagement, and strengthening the visibility of public health inspectors across Manitoba. Through his role with CIPHI, he aims to foster collaboration, support emerging professionals, and contribute to the continued growth of the profession.
Marrick Santos
President Elect
Marrick is a Public Health Inspector with Manitoba Health, serving within the Winnipeg West region. Certified in 2024 after completing a Bachelor of Environmental Public Health at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, he sees Public Health as a beautiful blend of all his life experiences after 10 years in the food service industry.
Marrick is a strong advocate for the profession, spending much of his time at career fairs or classrooms delivering presentations to promote Public Health.
Born in Winnipeg, Marrick finds joy in improving the livelihood of the communities he once grew up in. In his spare time, he enjoys weightlifting, going to concerts, and caring for his two dogs.
Kiran Sidhu
Past President
Kiran is an Environmental Public Health Officer with Indigenous Services Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She holds an undergraduate degree in Human Nutritional Sciences from the University of Manitoba, and an after degree in Environmental Public Health from Concordia University of Edmonton.
Kiran has been an active member of CIPHI since 2011 and has worked with CIPHI MB in many capacities including councillor, secretary and the venue chair of the 100 year National Education Conference.
Kiran values CIPHI for all it does to advocate for our profession and better the lives of our members. Kiran enjoys reading, yoga, attending concerts and shows, and travelling.
Kristen Parks
Secretary
Kristen graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Nutrition in 2013. After working for a few years in the hospital system, she was introduced to the field of Public Health which led her to pursue a degree in Public Health at Ryerson University (now TMU). Kristen completed the program and was certified as a Public Health Inspector in 2017. Since 2019, Kristen has worked in the Province of Manitoba, first as a Public Health Inspector with the Province and now as an Environmental Public Health Officer with Treaty 2&4 Health Services.
Kristen started working with the Branch in 2022 as a councillor before accepting the role of secretary in 2024.
Brenna Cheasley
Treasurer
Brennan Cheasley is a locally raised Manitoban with a strong academic and professional background in public health. He earned his first university degree in Biology from the University of Winnipeg, followed by a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Public Health from Cape Breton University. Since completing his education, Brennan has been working in Southern Manitoba, where he has accumulated three years of hands-on experience practicing public health. He is proud to serve Manitobans and is deeply committed to supporting and strengthening the communities he works with. Outside of his professional role, Brennan maintains an active lifestyle through weightlifting and golf. He also enjoys attending sporting events, and values spending time with family.
Joel Martin
Councillor
Joël Martin is a proud French Acadien from New Brunswick on Canada’s East Coast. Guided by the philosophy of Carpe Diem, Seize the Day, a quote that resonates deeply with him from Dead Poets Society, Joël brings passion, curiosity, and dedication to every chapter of his public health journey.
He began his academic path with a Diploma in Environmental Technology from Bathurst New Brunswick Community College in 2007, followed by a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) from Cape Breton University in 2009. In 2010, he earned his Canadian Public Health Inspector (CIPHI) certification in Toronto, Ontario.
Joël worked as a Public Health Inspector in Ontario from 2010 to 2012, gaining foundational frontline experience before transitioning into Information Technology, where he served as a Service Desk Analyst in Ottawa for seven years. In 2019, he returned fully to public health, first with the Porcupine Health Unit in Kapuskasing, and later that same year relocating further west to Manitoba.
Since moving to Manitoba, Joël has proudly served rural communities in the RM of Portage la Prairie through his role in the Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care, Health Protection Unit (Southern Area). He now celebrates seven years of dedicated service to Manitobans, applying both his technical and public health expertise in his daily work.
Joël is an active contributor to CIPHI Manitoba, serving as a Councillor, Chair of the Sponsorship Committee, and a supportive member of numerous education and advocacy initiatives. He is also pursuing the Leadership Foundations for Aspiring Supervisors (LFS) Certificate through the Manitoba Public Service Commission’s Learning and Development Program as he continues to grow as a leader.
Driven to make a meaningful impact, Joël aspires to continue advancing within his department, working toward becoming a specialist or manager, while continuing to champion public health, community well being, and lifelong learning.
Jeremy Roberts
Councillor
Jeremy graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Health in 2001. Later that year, he received his CIPHI certification.
He has worked as a public health inspector in several regions including Ontario, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Manitoba. In the past, he was a Councilor with AB/NT/NU Branch. When asked for his thoughts on CIPHI membership dues, he’ll always say: “It’s the best $250 investment you’ll ever make.
Amandeep Singh
COPE Representative
A Public Health Inspector in the Brandon Office, Aman got certified in October 2023. He joined CoPE in 2024 to help contribute his time and efforts towards a team that ensures professional development and continuing education.
Aman is passionate about public health as he believes he is a part of a team that ensures prevention of disease, reducing the burden on the Canadian Health Care system.
Aman enjoys spending time with his friends and family, learning new things, watching sitcoms but also love being outdoors as much as possible and enjoy the small but important moments in life.
